Your pet receives the finest surgical care available at Amador Valley Veterinary Hospital.
Veterinary Surgical Care
Our modern surgical suite is equipped with the latest veterinary medical instruments for your pet's surgery. Our veterinarians have experience performing many soft-tissue procedures, including spay/neuter surgeries (for dogs, cats, and rabbits); gastro-intestinal surgeries; cystotomies; tumor removals; repairs to the eyelid, and many others.
Your pet receives advanced orthopedic surgical care at Amador Valley Veterinary Hospital. We work with several board-certified veterinary surgeons to perform joint surgeries here in our hospital. For more complex cases (such as bone-plating, TPLO surgery and hip replacements), we refer to local veterinary surgery specialty practices.
Pain Management
Your pet should be as safe and comfortable as possible during surgery. Amador Valley Veterinary Hospital uses advanced pain management protocols to keep your pet comfortable and pain free before, during and after surgery. We pre-medicate your pet using pain medications, and may also use local nerve blocks and/or incisional blocks to achieve further control of pain.
Prior to surgery, your pet receives a complete physical examination. This allows us develop an anesthetic protocol that is unique to your pet. To keep your him or her comfortable during surgery, we use the latest anesthetic methods. During surgery, your pet's vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse and body temperature are monitored. A highly-trained veterinary technician is also on hand during surgery to monitor your pet.
After Your Pet's Surgery
Your pet is given pain control medications following surgery. We believe that pets who are free from pain recover more quickly. These medications are necessary to keep your pet comfortable and promote a speedy recovery.
